A large, readable countdown
A full-screen timer gives the remaining time room to stand out. The layout adapts to iPad and landscape screen space.
Six presets, plus your own duration
Choose 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes, or set a custom duration. The app remembers your custom duration for next time.
Keep the display awake when needed
An optional keep-awake setting helps the countdown remain visible. It is off by default, so teachers choose when to enable it.
Choose sound or silence
Choose a completion sound, or use silent mode for quiet work and shared spaces.
Protect against accidental changes
Control lock helps prevent unintended timer adjustments. It is an in-app convenience, not a school security restriction.
An offline timer, without an account
The timer works offline and does not require an account. Settings may use a network connection to fetch app recommendations and icons; this is not a claim that the entire app never connects.
Deploying with Apple School Manager
School administrators can use Apple School Manager and their mobile device management (MDM) service to distribute eligible App Store apps. Confirm availability in your organisation’s Apps and Books catalogue and region before planning a deployment.
Find the current app
In Apps and Books, look for Simple Timer & Stopwatch (App Store ID 6737737475). Check the available version, device requirements and licences for your school’s location.

Download the content token for the appropriate location and upload it according to your MDM provider’s instructions. Keep track of token renewal so licence communication continues.

Use device assignment in your MDM service to install the app on managed iPads. Apple’s device assignment does not require a personal Apple Account to access the app.

Confirm the installed release contains the features you need. Try a countdown, full-screen layout, completion sound or silence, and keep-awake behaviour on a school iPad before expanding to a class.
What MDM can and cannot configure
App-specific managed configuration is not yet supported. There are no supported MDM keys for centrally setting timer presets, sound, keep-awake or control lock. Configure those options on each device when the classroom update becomes available.
To restrict an iPad to one app, your IT team can use the device’s MDM Single App Mode / App Lock where supported by its enrolment and management setup. This is separate from Simple Timer’s control lock, which only helps avoid accidental changes inside the app.
